Shire's New Parklet Policy Ensures Equitable Outcomes for All

Support Local Parklets

Council adopted the Parklets Policy at its meeting on Tuesday 3 October. The Policy enables traders to create parklets in car parking bays out the front of their business. Permanent parklets aim to benefit the community and not disadvantage neighbouring businesses.

This policy considers the positive and negative impact to all traders and is benchmarked against other Councils' policies. Every business owner wanting a parklet will need their neighbouring business' written consent before proceeding with their application. Parklets can not be created in accessible (disability only) parking bays.

Applications are already open! We have created a helpful checklist for traders to help with the application process.
