Six members of the Comanchero Outlaw Motorcycle Gang were arrested by South Australia Police Crime Gangs Task Force last night, for being in each other's company. The offence is in contravention of criminal association legislation.
Crime Gangs Task Force, STAR Group and Eastern District CIB attended a park on Alexandra Street, Prospect around 7pm last night where a group of Comanchero members and their supporters were identified in company with each other.
Acting Officer in Charge of Serious and Organised Crime Branch, Detective Chief Inspector Darren Fielke said six men alleged to be members of the Comanchero OMCG were arrested and subsequently charged with criminal association offences.
"The alleged offence prohibits the association of more than two outlaw motorcycle gang members meeting in one place, this offence is punishable by three years imprisonment," Detective Chief Superintendent Fielke said.
"The activities of outlaw motorcycle gangs can present risk to the community and South Australia Police will take every opportunity to disrupt their criminal activities."
"This is just another example of how organised crime activity in South Australia is being thwarted by police. It's a warning to anyone thinking about joining a gang – unless you want to be on our radar, don't do it."
A 55 year old man from Magill, a 37 year old man from North Adelaide, a 31 year old man from Northgate and a 29 year old man from Brooklyn Park were bailed with strict conditions not to associate with each other and they will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on 7 October 2022.
A 20 year old man from Port Adelaide in company with this group was also charged with carrying an offensive weapon and being in possession of prescription drugs. He was bailed with the same conditions to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court also on 7 October 2022.
A 38year old man from Prospect was refused police bail and further charged with breaching an intervention order arising from an unrelated incident and he will appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court today.
