South Australia Covid update as at 21 June 2022

COVID Cases in SA

There have been 2,270 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia today. There are currently 16,162 active cases in South Australia.

Sadly, since the last report, SA Health has been notified that 11 people who tested positive for COVID-19, have passed away. The deaths notified are from data reconciliation and occurred between 26 February 2022 and 19 June 2022.

SA Health can confirm a woman in her 40s, a woman in her 60s, a woman in her 70s, two women in their 90s, and a woman over 100 and a man in his 50s, a man in his 60s, a man in his 70s and two men in their 90s, who tested positive for COVID-19, have passed away.

There are 230 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including nine people in ICU. Of those hospitalised, 144 people have received three or more vaccine doses and 82 people are either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated and four have an unknown vaccination status.

Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases has been readjusted.

    Variants

    The latest genome sampling from 1 to 7 June has found 83.7% of samples taken were BA.2.

    COVID testing

    Yesterday, 7,215 people received a PCR test in South Australia, which is an 32.7% increase on the previous 24 hours. Of the test results returned yesterday, 1,004 PCR tests were positive, while 1,266 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.

    Vaccination update

    Currently 95.9% of eligible South Australians aged 12+ have received their first dose of the vaccine and 93.9% have received their second dose. Boosters have been administered to 72.9% of eligible South Australians and 68.3% of South Australians aged 16+.
