COVID Cases in SA
There have been 2,559 new cases of COVID-19 reported in South Australia in the past week.
As of 11:59pm Thursday 6 October, there were 1,864 active cases in South Australia and 50 people with COVID-19 in hospital, including three in ICU.
Of those hospitalised, 34 people had received three or more vaccine doses and 16 people were either unvaccinated or partially vaccinated.
There were three COVID-19 deaths notified in the past week, the ages range from people in their 60s to their 80s, including one death in a person aged under 70 years. Deaths may not have occurred in the week in which they were reported.
Due to a reconfiguration of the data, the total number of cases has been readjusted.

Variants
The latest genome sampling has found 5.3% of samples analysed were BA.4 and 81.5% of samples analysed were BA.5 or related variant.
COVID testing
In the past week, 14,156 people received a PCR test in South Australia, a 11.3% decrease on the previous week. Of the test results returned, 1,078 PCR tests were positive, while 1,481 positive Rapid Antigen Test results were reported.
Vaccination update
Currently 96.4% of eligible South Australians aged 12+ have received their first dose of the vaccine and 94.4% have received their second dose. Boosters have been administered to 75.2% of eligible South Australians and 71.2% of South Australians aged 16+.
