Speeding Driver Injured in Wetherill Park Crash

A driver has been injured in a crash after allegedly detected speeding by police in Sydney's south west.

About 9.55pm yesterday (Monday 29 June 2026) officers from the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command were performing stationary speed enforcement duties on the median strip along The Horsley Drive, Wetherill Park, when a white Volkswagen Passat station wagon was allegedly detected travelling east bound at 102kph in an 70kph zone.

When the vehicle drove past the police site, officers activated red/blue warning lights but were unable to perform a u-turn to intercept the vehicle due to oncoming traffic flow

Before police could complete the u-turn it will be further alleged the vehicle turned left into Lagana Place where it crashed into a building.

Officers attended the location and rendered aid to the two female occupants prior to the arrival of NSW Ambulance paramedics.

The 18-year-old driver – a P2 provisional licence holder - was treated at the scene before being taken to Liverpool Hospital in a stable condition.

The 14-year-old passenger was uninjured.

There was no damage to the building.

At no time were police in pursuit of the vehicle.
