Spot Jo/Joe Rider And Ride To Live

MidCoast Council

The popular Jo/Joe Rider Motorcycle Awareness Campaign is returning to the MidCoast from Thursday 1 October to 9 October 2026 as part of Motorcycle Awareness Month.

MidCoast motorcycle riders are invited to volunteer for this important road safety initiative, which aims to reduce "Sorry Mate, I Didn't See You" crashes by encouraging motorists to actively look out for riders on our roads.

Throughout the campaign, community members will be encouraged to spot Jo/Joe Rider and enter a competition, helping raise awareness of motorcycles and promote safer road sharing across the MidCoast community.

The campaign's key messages for drivers are "Looks Clear, Look Again" and "Look Again for Riders". Motorcycle riders are encouraged to "Assume You're Missed" and remember that "To Them the Road is Clear".

Volunteer riders will take on the role of Jo/Joe Rider while travelling throughout the MidCoast area and will be provided with a high-visibility Jo/Joe Rider vest to wear during the campaign. Riders can participate individually, with a friend or as part of a group, and may volunteer for one day, several days or the entire campaign period.

The 2026 campaign is proud to partner with The Motorcycle Council of NSW, which will manage volunteer registrations, vest distribution, rider liaison and coordination, and competition entries. Local Road Safety Officers will continue to support participating riders and provide refreshment vouchers to encourage regular fatigue breaks during rides.

To register your interest, email [email protected]. Please include the area you intend to ride in and your estimated availability, which can be confirmed closer to the event.
