The Crisafulli Government is today launching Operation Forge - alongside the Queensland Police Service – a statewide crackdown targeting break-ins, robberies and stolen cars to turn the tide of Labor's Youth Crime Crisis and make Queensland safer.

Operation Forge – a high-visibility police operation to reduce victims of crime in Queensland – will commence this Friday, February 27 with a targeted crackdown on break-ins, robberies and stolen cars across Queensland.

Operation Forge will be led by district officers including the Criminal Investigation Branch, Child Protection and Investigation Unit and tactical crime squads with support available from specialist resources and assets including POLAIR, forensic services, surveillance operations and the Digital Intelligence Community Engagement Team.

The Crisafulli Government is restoring safety where you live and has already delivered a 7.2 per cent reduction in the number of victims of crime in 2025, compared with the previous year.

Under the former Labor Government, the number of overall victims of crime increased by 193 per cent during their decade of decline, which included the number of youths charged with car theft jumping from 2,155 in 2014 to more than 7,000 in 2024.

This statewide crackdown will also target high-risk offenders, as the Crisafulli Government continues to make Queensland safer with a 17 per cent reduction in the number of serious repeat offenders in Queensland over the past year, compared to 2024.

Frontline policing capacity has also improved, with a net increase of 588 police officers since the October 2024 election, while unplanned attrition has fallen to 2.6 per cent - the lowest level in five years.

Minister for Police and Emergency Services Dan Purdie said the operation was a targeted crackdown aimed at continuing to reduce the number of victims of crime in Queensland.

"Operation Forge will target the worst of the worst as we continue to turn the tide of Labor's Youth Crime Crisis and give our police the laws and resources they need to do their jobs," Minister Purdie said.

"The Crisafulli Government has already delivered a 7.2 per cent drop in the number of victims of crime in Queensland, but we are not taking our foot off the pedal when it comes to making Queensland safer after Labor's decade of decline."

Member for Capalaba Russell Field said the Crisafulli Government was committed to restoring safety where you live.

"Operation Forge will come as welcome news for my community and others across the state," Mr Field said.

"This is about continuing to provide our police with the resources they need to keep Queenslanders safe.
