Ossa Music Prize-winning pianist Miffy Wang will undertake a five-concert statewide tour from Monday, highlighting the works of Tasmanian composers and original paintings by a University of Tasmania art student.
An Honours student at the University of Tasmania's Conservatorium of Music, Miss Wang will take her multi-sensory experience across Tasmania with performances in all regions of the state.
The solo piano program, including works by Tasmanians Don Kay and Maria Grenfell, will also feature original paintings by art student Audrey Carter commissioned specially for the project.
Ms Wang was awarded the 2025 Ossa Music Prize, valued at $13,000 including the fully funded tour, earlier this month.
"By fostering a dialogue between music and art, I hope to create an experience that evokes a deep sense of place and which resonates with the audience's memories of living in Tasmania," she said.
"Audrey's artworks are inspired by my Tasmanian piano repertoire and her own experiences of living in Tasmania."
The tour begins in Queenstown on Monday before shows in Stanley (as part of the Circular Head Arts Festival), Launceston, Swansea and Hobart.
Miss Wang began studying piano at the age of seven and since 2017 has studied with Senior Lecturer in Keyboard at the University, Shan Deng. She completed her Bachelor of Music in 2024, has won several awards and was a member of the Tasmanian Youth Orchestra.
The Ossa Prize is named after Tasmania's highest mountain peak and was established in 2018 by University alumnus Dr Rod Roberts and Mrs Cecile Roberts to help students pursue excellence in musicianship. The tour will include a performance in Queenstown in memory of Margaret Stoermer, thanks to support provided by her family.
