Stolen 4WDs located in Cowandilla - two arrested, South Australia

Police have arrested two men after they were caught with a stolen 4WD in Cowandilla.

Just after midnight on Monday 28 December, patrols were in Thomas Street, when they spotted two men interfering with a Mitsubishi 4WD with stolen plates.

One suspect was immediately arrested while the second suspect ran off jumping fences. He was located a short time later in the rear shed of a nearby house.

Further enquiries by police revealed the pair had recently parked a Toyota 4WD with stolen plates in the driveway of a house in Thomas Street.

A 36-year-old man of no fixed address was charged with illegal interference, unassigned plates, driver disqualified and hinder police. He was refused bail and will appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court tomorrow.

His co-accused, a 21-year-old man from Brooklyn Park, was charged with illegal interference and has been bailed to appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on 1 April.
