The Northern Territory Police Force is investigating following a stolen motor vehicle incident that occurred in Alice Springs yesterday evening.
Around 8pm, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received reports that a Toyota Yaris had been stolen while it was stationary on Traeger Avenue.
It is alleged when the adult male driver briefly exited the vehicle, an unknown adult male, believed to be aged about 20-years-old, entered the driver's seat and drove away. The victim's child was seated in the back seat of the vehicle and the offender slowed down and let them out a short distance away. The child was uninjured.
Police attended and commenced investigations. The Yaris was subsequently located south of The Gap and has been seized for forensic investigation.
