Celebrate National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) with a range of exciting events hosted by Georges River Libraries in collaboration with the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) on Wednesday 21 May 2025.
NSS is an annual beloved event initiated by ALIA. Every year a picture book written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, and many other places across the country.
This year's NSS selected book is "The Truck Cat" by Deborah Frenkel and Danny Snell, a heart-warming story about a cat and a human who travel together in a truck and long for home.
To accompany the simultaneous storytime events, Georges River Libraries will host a cat care presentation, after-school craft, and two Rhyme Time sessions, including one in Cantonese.
Georges River Council Mayor Elise Borg said, "At Georges River, we encourage literacy and the power of reading amongst the younger generation."
"Council is inviting children to join our free and fun events that will help them discover the magic of books this National Simultaneous Storytime Day."
Bring your children to one of our Georges River Libraries and immerse yourselves in a world of books as we build a community of lifelong learners.
