A Matt Guy Liberals and Nationals Government will better support students language abilities by providing $5.4 million to Community Languages Victoria.
Community Languages Victoria supports 40,000 Victorian students to study languages after-hours.
The study of languages helps builds respect and connections across multicultural communities and provides students an engaging way to learn language skills for life.
Despite the popularity and success of this program, funding levels for this program have not risen in four years.
Therefore, a Matt Guy Liberals and Nationals Government will provide $5.4 million over four years to Community Languages Victoria - giving this important organisation the financial certainty it needs to continue into the future.
Deputy Leader of the Liberal Party, David Southwick, said that improving students language skills was critical to build better connections across a diverse range of communities.
"Students benefit enormously from learning additional languages, particularly if they strengthen local community ties."
