Campbelltown's brightest young scientific minds have been celebrated at the 2025 Victor Chang School Science Awards.

Sixteen local high school students were recognised for their outstanding passion for STEM – science, technology, engineering and mathematics – subjects at an awards ceremony at the Campbelltown Arts Centre on Thursday 28 August.

"We're proud to join forces with the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute to present these awards in Campbelltown, which are a fantastic way to celebrate the academic achievements of our local students," Mayor of Campbelltown Darcy Lound said.

"It requires great dedication to achieve strong academic results and it's wonderful to see so many of our city's passionate students excelling in their studies," Cr Lound said.

"I congratulate all of these students on their efforts."

This year marks the 21st anniversary since the Victor Chang School Science Awards were established to celebrate young, gifted students excelling in STEM subjects and to honour Dr Chang's legacy in fostering education.

"I hope every pupil who receives a Victor Chang School Science Awards feels proud of what they have achieved and is inspired to follow in the footsteps of the late Dr Victor Chang and the hundreds of scientists who work at the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute," Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute's Co-Deputy Director, Professor Jamie Vandenberg said.

"All the winners have displayed an exceptional commitment to their studies. They are curious, bright and creative leaders, and I am sure many of them will go on to become the scientific leaders of the future," Professor Vandenberg said.
