Submission: Disability Inclusion Regulation review

This is a submission responding to the Disability Inclusion Regulation review.

The NSW Disability Inclusion Act 2014 (the Act) replaces the NSW Disability Services Act 1993, and has two main roles. It commits the NSW Government to making communities more inclusive and accessible for people with disability now and into the future. These commitments will continue even when the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is operating across NSW. It also regulates specialist disability supports and services to people with disability in NSW and introducing better safeguards for these services until the change over to the NDIS.

In this submission, PWDA recognises the Regulation as a valuable instrument to support nimble responses to emerging trends and changing needs of people with disability in NSW under the Disability Inclusion Act 2014 (the Act). We also support the proposal of NSW Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) to remake the Existing Regulation..
