The Albanese Labor Government is providing increased financial support to help maintain a strong community services sector with fair wages and reduced cost of living pressures.
Community Service Organisations who receive grant funding from the Department of Social Services will be able to share in an additional $257.7 million over the next three years through to 2025-26.
The implementation of the 2022-23 October Budget measure Support for Community Sector Organisations will directly assist non-profit Community Services Organisations who may be facing additional cost pressures due to the Fair Work Commission's minimum wage decision and higher inflation pressures.
It comes on top of the regular indexation supplementation payments made to grant recipients.
More than 700 organisations who work to provide support with family violence, redress, disability, homelessness and financial literacy are among those who will be eligible for the funding boost.
Minister for Social Services Amanda Rishworth said the Government had a strong appreciation for the work of the community services sector.
"Australia's community services sector plays an essential role in the supporting the wellbeing of all people across the nation," Minister Rishworth said.
"This will provide a considerable boost to the sector and it's important that we continue to provide certainty and stability to ensure providers can deliver essential services."
The Department of Social Services has commenced the roll-out of supplementary funding, along with annual indexation to eligible Community Sector Organisations. Funding is not application based and will be automatically applied to eligible Community Services Organisations over the coming weeks.
