Support for those affected by WA bushfires

A message from the Vice Chancellor, Professor Francis Campbell:

"In recent days we have witnessed the bushfires in Perth's north-east ravage many thousands of hectares and claim more than 70 homes. The scenes are heartbreaking, with even more houses threatened today and evacuations are continuing. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those who have lost their homes and the emergency service workers tackling the fires.

This bushfire emergency has already impacted a number of our staff, students and their families. As a Notre Dame community, we offer our prayers and practical support to all those affected by these extremely challenging circumstances. To support our students and staff affected by this event, the University will:

  • Provide staff who are directly affected with access to special leave, counselling and support
  • Provide additional paid leave to volunteer firefighters, and any first or emergency responders
  • Enable students who are impacted to access the Emergency Student Hardship Fund to assist with starting or continuing their studies at Notre Dame
  • Provide students who are directly affected access to counselling and academic support as required
