A driver has been charged with speeding offences after he was caught allegedly travelling more than 90km/h above the speed limit in Sydney's south yesterday.
About 5.50pm (Sunday 29 August 2021), a white BMW sedan was detected by police travelling north on Southern Cross Drive, Mascot, allegedly at 172km/h in a sign posted 80km/h zone.
Officers from the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command were performing duties as part of Operation Furious when they stopped the BMW, driven by a 35-year-old man.
Subsequent checks revealed the man's NSW driver's licence was suspended until Friday 19 November 2021.
He was issued a Court Attendance Notice for Class A motor vehicle exceed speed > 45km/h, drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, drive motor vehicle while licence suspended, and fail to notify change of residential address as prescribed.
His licence was suspended, and his number plates seized for three months.
He is due to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday 14 October 2021.
