Suspicious death of man - South Coogee

Police are investigating following the discovery of a man's body in Sydney's east.

About 11.20am today (Sunday 20 December 2020), emergency services were called to a unit on Elphinstone Road, South Coogee, following concerns for the welfare of a male occupant.

Officers from Eastern Beaches Police Area Command attended and found the body of a man, who has not been formally identified, but believed to be aged in his 70s.

A crime scene has been established which will be examined by forensic officers.

Local detectives, assisted by the State Crime Command's Homicide Squad, are investigating the circumstances surrounding the man's death, which is being treated as suspicious.

A post mortem examination will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
