The Australian Industry Group has welcomed the Sustainability Commissioner's Report into the State of the Environment and its recognition that more needs to be done to support Victoria's environment in conjunction with the economy.
The Victorian Head of Ai Group, Tim Piper, said industry welcomed the pragmatic position recommended by the Commissioner.
"There is a strong plan to protect both Victoria's environment and its economy. While the Report card highlights areas that need reform, the Commissioner has aligned the industry with environmental needs.
"The pledge to support a circular economy and to use waste better is important to Victorian companies.
"The Commissioner has also recognised the value of local procurement and a system to enable Victorian and Australian companies to be supported in developing the circular economy," Mr Piper said.
Mr Piper said the pragmatic report and development of a few high priority areas allows Victoria to have a plan for the future.
