The Shire welcomes the announcement that the Peninsula VineHop Festival has secured funding through the Victorian Government's Regional Events Fund, reinforcing the region's reputation as one of Victoria's premier destinations for food, wine and live music experiences.

Now in its ninth year, VineHop will return on Saturday 21 November 2026, bringing thousands of visitors to local wineries, breweries and cideries across the Peninsula. The event is expected to attract 6,500 attendees and deliver significant economic benefits to local businesses.

Shire played a key role in supporting the funding application, strengthened through its new Visitor Economy Partnership with Mornington Peninsula Regional Tourism, which continues to drive coordinated promotion and investment in the region.

Mayor Cr Stephen Batty said the funding outcome was a strong endorsement of the Peninsula's events sector and the strength of local partnerships.

"This funding highlights the Mornington Peninsula as a leading destination for events, food, wine and live music. VineHop showcases the very best of our region, supports local businesses, and encourages visitors to stay longer and explore more," Cr Batty said.

"The Briars is a much-loved destination that plays an important role in hosting events like this, offering a unique setting that enhances the visitor experience and showcases the Peninsula's natural beauty."

Festival Director Lisa MacGregor said support from the Shire had been key to the event's continued growth.

"Support from Mornington Peninsula Shire has been instrumental in the growth of VineHop, from local grant funding through to backing our successful application for state support. That partnership allows us to deliver a bigger, better event each year and shine a spotlight on the incredible producers and experiences across the Peninsula."

Shire continues supporting event organisers to deliver safe, well-managed events at The Briars and across the Peninsula.

Community Investment Funding is now open to help local organisations deliver services, programs, events and festivals.
