The AFP has charged a Sydney man with failing to provide police with passwords to his electronic devices as part of the ongoing investigation into Australia's largest cocaine seizure.
The man, 29, was charged yesterday (15 July, 2026) after AFP and Queensland Police members executed a search warrant at an Edmondson Park home as part of Operation Minjiang, which has resulted in the seizure of almost three tonnes of cocaine and 142kg of methamphetamine.
It will be alleged the man refused to provide police with the passwords to his electronic devices when presented with a court order, issued under section 3LA of the Crimes Act 1914 (Cth).
He was charged with one count of contravening a requirement in a section 3LA order, contrary to section 3LA(6) of the Crimes Act 1914 (Cth). The maximum penalty for this offence is 10 years' imprisonment.
The man was refused bail and is expected to appear in Downing Centre Local Court today (16 July, 2026).
Operation Minjiang remains ongoing and further charges have not been ruled out.
