Tasmania Awards Grants to Boost Waste Data Reporting

Funding has been awarded to landfill and resource recovery facilities across Tasmania through the Waste Levy and Data Readiness Grant Program.
Minister for Environment, Madeleine Ogilvie, said the Tasmanian Government is supporting clever initiatives that will improvements that will strengthen our transition to a circular economy.
"The Waste Levy and Data Readiness Grant Program is delivering support for facility operators to upgrade systems and infrastructure so they can meet waste reporting obligations and improve the quality of data collected," Minister Ogilvie said.
"We are investing nearly $430,000 in grants, funded by the Landfill Levy, to reduce waste entering landfill and increase resource recovery.
"Successful projects include the installation and upgrade of weighbridges, portable weighbridge equipment and associated hardware; improvements to gate systems and load monitoring technology; upgrades to point‑of‑sale systems; and the purchase or redevelopment of tailored software to improve data collection, management and reporting.
"Several grants also support external reviews of existing systems to improve data accuracy and better integrate reporting across sites.
"These investments will help ensure consistent, accurate and timely waste data across Tasmania's waste and resource recovery network.
"Our Government is working closely with the waste management sector to deliver a better, more transparent system that supports informed decision‑making and long‑term improvements across the State."
