Tasmanians Deserve to Know if Personal Data Compromised

Tasmanian Labor

Minister for Science and Technology Madeleine Ogilvie must come clean and stop keeping Tasmanians in the dark about the data breach announced late on Friday afternoon.

Tasmanians deserve to know how long Minister Ogilvie has known about this breach, which department has been compromised and how much of their personal data is at risk.

The Liberals' response to the breach has been taken straight out of their secrecy and no transparency playbook.

It doesn't matter what the issue is, this Government's go to response is to cover things up.

Tasmanians must not forget that less than a fortnight ago the embattled Minister Ogilvie described the racing industry as never being in better shape, and what a lie that proved to be.

Why should Tasmanians trust this embattled Minister to deal with this important matter?

This is a serious issue that could potentially affect tens of thousands of Tasmanians - and they deserve to know whether their personal details have been compromised and what Minister Ogilvie is doing to protect them.

Shadow Minister for ICT, Science and Technology
