Tech School Boosts Stem Learning For Frankston

VIC Premier

The Allan Labor Government is making sure every Victorian student has access to a world-class learning environment close to home - with more tech schools to be opened across the state.

Acting Premier and Minister for Education Ben Carroll today officially opened the Frankston Tech School which will provide free and immersive science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) learning experiences for local students.

Located at Chisholm Institute's Frankston Campus, the $12 million Tech School provides a purpose-built space for delivering free, hands-on, high-tech programs for government and non-government secondary school students in the surrounding local government area.

Students will receive free transportation to and from the Tech School to learn how to solve real-world challenges using industry-standard technology such as drones, robotics, battery storage systems and virtual reality equipment.

These experiences will immerse students in practical and career-linked education to develop skills and capabilities needed to succeed in a rapidly changing global economy.

Independent assessments have found Tech Schools increase student engagement in STEM and build students' awareness about exciting, in-demand jobs of the future.

This is the first of the six new Tech Schools completed as part of a $116 million investment in the Victorian Budget 2023/24 to be opened.

The other five tech schools include Hume, Brimbank, Wangaratta, South West (formerly known as Warrnambool) and Dandenong Tech Schools - all of which will open during 2026.
