For seven years, our pioneering TechUP programme has been successfully helping women break into tech and accelerate their careers. That's according to a new impact report, evaluating TechUP's impact to date.

Breaking down barriers, building futures

TechUP's mission is to help women, particularly from underrepresented and underserved groups, retrain, build confidence and receive mentorship so they can step into digital careers.

The aim - to break down barriers that have historically limited women's progress in the tech sector.

Now, a new impact report shows how TechUP is reaching those who need it most:

  • 51% of participants are from ethnic minority backgrounds.
  • 44% identify as having a disability.
  • 43% have caring responsibilities.

Real outcomes, real impact

What's more TechUP is not only helping women break into tech but also rise through it.

  • 62% of participants have secured a new job, promotion, or career progression opportunity.
  • 48% have moved into further education or started their own business.

Participants also credited TechUP with increasing confidence, career readiness and building a powerful sense of community.

Outperforming national benchmarks

According to the report, when compared with similar initiatives, TechUP stands out.

Whilst recent national Skills Bootcamps report 56% progressing into employment or advancement, TechUp alumni exceed this with a rate of 62%.

When it comes to boosting confidence, 79% of TechUP graduates increased confidence - on a par with national benchmarks.

Future of opportunities

TechUP aims to continue helping underrepresented women thrive in tech and make the sector more inclusive, innovative and representative.

The TechUP team is actively seeking new collaborations and is expanding opportunities around AI and cybersecurity.

They are also building a commercial continuing professional development offering, to support workforce upskilling while funding social impact.
