Teen apprehended after serious assault at Athelstone, South Australia

Police have apprehended a teenager following an alleged aggravated assault at Athelstone.

Just after 4pm on Sunday 24 November, patrols and paramedics were called to Griggs Drive after reports of a woman having been stabbed by a teenage boy known to her.

The suspect left prior to police arrival and woman has been taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with a non-life threatening injury to her abdomen.

Patrols conducted a search of the area and located the suspect a short time later nearby.

The 14-year-old is currently in police custody and is expected to undergo a mental health assessment.
