Teen Charged in Break-ins, Car Thefts: Operation Soteria

A boy will face a children's court today charged over multiple alleged break, enter and steal offences near Dubbo.

Officers attached to Operation Soteria commenced an investigation into multiple reported break and enters in Warren, 120km north-west of Dubbo, earlier this year.

Police allege a 13-year-old boy engaged in a alleged break and enter at about 4am on Friday 20 February 2026 on Hume Street in Warren, where several wallets, a handbag and a set of car keys belonging to a SUV were stolen. The boy then allegedly took the SUV from the premises before abandoning it sometime later.

Between 10pm on Monday 6 April and Tuesday 7 April 2026, the boy allegedly gained entry to another premise on Azar Place in Warren, where several wallets, and a set of car keys belonging to a SUV were stolen. The boy then allegedly took the SUV from the premises before abandoning it sometime later.

Following inquiries, about 11.45am yesterday (Wednesday 6 May 2026) police arrested a 13-year-old boy.

The boy was taken to Dubbo Police Station where he was charged with two charges of aggravated break and enter, two charges of steal motor vehicle, take and drive conveyance, and breach of bail.

He has been refused bail to appear in a children's court today (Thursday 7 May 2026).
