A teenager has faced court following an alleged vehicle theft and several break and enters in the state's Orana region.
About 5am on Tuesday 19 May 2026, officers attached to Orana Mid Western Police District were informed a SUV had been stolen from a residential address on Dandaloo Street, Narromine, following a break and enter.
The theft had reportedly occurred sometime between 10.30pm Monday 18 May 2026 and 12am Tuesday 19 May 2026.
The vehicle was then allegedly driven to Dubbo where a group of five unknown people forced entry into a shopping centre on Windsor Parade around 12.50am, Dubbo, before allegedly breaking into a store on Macquarie Street, Dubbo shortly after.
Investigators commenced inquiries into the incidents.
About 4.30am on the same day, police located the allegedly stolen vehicle on Stonehaven Avenue, Dubbo. It was seized for forensic analysis.
Following extensive inquiries, about 6.20pm Saturday 23 May 2026, police attended a showground on Fitzroy Street, Dubbo, where they arrested a 16-year-old boy, despite the teen's attempts to flee and resist arrest.
He was taken to Dubbo Police Station where he was charged with six offences,
· Drive conveyance taken without consent of owner
· Drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous
· Never licensed person drive vehicle on road
· Face blackened/disguised with intent commit indictable offence
· Commit s 154A offence and disseminate (post and boast)
· Hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty.
He was refused bail and faced a children's court yesterday (Sunday 24 May 2026), where he was formally refused bail to reappear before a children's court on Monday 1 June 2026.
