Teen Charged in Sydney West Arson Cases

Taskforce Falcon detectives have charged a teenager for his alleged involvement in two arson attacks under Strike Force Zolar.

Strike Force Zolar was established in April 2026, by State Crime Command's Financial Crimes Squad's Arson Unit, to investigate alleged arson attacks targeting a barber shop in Warwick Farm and a cosmetic dental business in Greenacre.

About 2.20am on Thursday 16 April 2026, emergency services responded to reports that a vehicle had driven into a barber shop on Sappho Road, Warwick Farm, igniting a fire.

Fire and Rescue NSW extinguished the blaze before police established a crime scene.

About 12.40am on Friday 17 April 2026, emergency services were called to Hume Highway, near Northcote Road, Greenacre, following reports of a car fire.

Police were told a red hatchback had crashed into a building before the occupants allegedly set the car alight and left on foot.

Fire and Rescue NSW extinguished the blaze before police established a crime scene.

Local police commenced an investigation before the matter was handed to State Crime Command's Financial Crimes Squad's Arson unit under Strike Force Zolar.

Over the course of the investigation, four people have been charged and remain before the courts.

Following further extensive inquiries, about 8.30am today (Thursday 18 June 2026) strike force detectives arrested a 16-year-old boy at Granville Police Station.

He was charged with two counts of aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offense in company-not steal, two counts of destroy property in company use fire >$5000 and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity.

The 16-year-old was refused bail to appear at a children's court today (Thursday 18 June 2026).
