A teenage boy has been charged with multiple offences following a series of incidents across Greater Geelong over the last month.
The 14-year-old has been charged with one count of home invasion, four counts of burglary, seven counts of theft, intentionally cause damage to property (x12), one count of going equipped to steal and drive motor vehicle at a dangerous speed (x3).
The boy from the Greater Geelong area was arrested on Friday following an investigation by Geelong Divisional Response Unit and the execution of a warrant at his home address.
The charges relate to several incidents including:
- An alleged burglary at a construction site on Boundary Road in Charlemont on 9 March between 2-5am. It is believed two offenders forced entry to the site before the pair also gained access to a portable. Two vehicles were allegedly stolen which were driven throughout Geelong at alleged excessive speeds.
- A home invasion in Giovanni Drive, Charlemont where it's alleged several items were stolen on 22 March about 4am. Three people home at the time weren't physically injured.
- A burglary at a construction site in Fairhaven Street in Armstrong Creek on Thursday 9 April about 9.30pm. On this occasion it is believed two offenders damaged heavy machinery and the inside of a sports stadium.
- An alleged burglary at a school on Horseshoe Bend Road in Charlemont on 10 April about 4am. Investigators believe offenders smashed a window before they damaged a vending machine and stole various food items and drinks. It is also alleged two excavators, and a truck were damaged before an excavator was driven into a paddock where fences were also damaged.
The investigation into the incidents is ongoing and it is expected detectives will make further arrests.
The teenager will appear before court on Saturday 11 April where detectives will seek his remand.
