Teenager arrested after Ashwood aggravated burglary

Patrolling police arrested a teenager last night after an aggravated burglary in Ashwood.

The alarm was raised after the victims, who were upstairs at their Teck Street property, heard their front door close about 8.30pm.

They ran downstairs to find their front-yard sensor light was on and a male sitting in the driver's seat of their car.

The victim opened the drivers side door of the car and grabbed the offender before a scuffle broke out and the offender ran from the scene.

Multiple police units attended and patrolled the area before the Blackburn South teen was arrested in Cleveland Road nearby.

A canine unit also tracked from the scene and found a jumper believed to have been dumped by the offender.

Detectives are also investigating and have charged the teenager after he allegedly tried to enter another home and car nearby just prior to the aggravated burglary.

The 17-year-old boy has been charged with aggravated burglary, attempted theft of motor vehicle, attempted burglary and attempted theft.

He has been held over to appear at a children's court today.
