Three teenage boys will face court today, charged with alleged traffic and property offences on the Mid North Coast.
About 3.15am (Thursday 23 July 2026), police were called to a home in Lake Cathie following reports of a break and enter.
At the scene, police were told two teenage boys had allegedly entered a home before stealing wallets, keys and a sedan.
A short time later, police were notified that an SUV had also allegedly been stolen from a home in Thrumster.
About 3.30am, police attempted to stop the sedan and SUV northbound on the Pacific Highway at Kundabung.
When the drivers allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated.
During the pursuit, road spikes were successfully deployed at Macleay Valley Way, South Kempsey, slowing the sedan.
The sedan continued to Lord Street, Kempsey, where it struck a gutter and crashed into a power pole at low speed.
The occupants of the sedan – two 16-year-old boys - were arrested and taken to Kempsey Police Station.
During a search of the sedan, police alleged located and seized a machete, crowbar, and property believed to be stolen from the Lake Cathie home.
The alleged driver was charged with four offences,
- Breach of bail
- Aggravated break and enter dwelling in company steal value less than $60000
- Drive conveyance taken without consent of owner, and
- Police pursuit - not stop - drive dangerously.
The second boy was charged with three offences,
- Beach of bail,
- Aggravated break and enter dwelling in company steal value less than $60000, and
- Be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.
Following further inquiries, police located the SUV abandoned on Douglas Street, Port Macquarie.
About 10.30am, police attended a nearby home, where a 15-year-old boy was arrested.
He was taken to Port Macquarie Police Station where he was charged with breach of bail, and take and drive conveyance without consent of owner.
All three boys were refused bail to appear before a Children's Court today.
