Work started this week to replace the temporary blue and white fencing along the Taree riverbank with a more durable solution, improving the appearance of the area while reducing ongoing maintenance.
The fence was installed following damage sustained during the May 2025 flood event and currently extends from Martin Bridge to Endeavour Place Reserve.
The replacement works will include installing steel strainer end posts, realigning the existing star pickets, and installing three strands of nylon-coated wire along the riverbank. The improved temporary fencing will continue to provide a safe barrier while offering a more robust and visually appealing solution.
Works are expected to be completed over the next one to two weeks, weather permitting.
MidCoast Council is continuing to advocate for funding to deliver a long-term restoration of the Taree Foreshore revetment wall, along with other community spaces damaged during the 2025 flood event. Grant funding from either the State or Federal Government is required to deliver the reconstruction works needed to restore these important public spaces.
