Tourism Council WA has welcomed the Terracotta Warriors exhibition announced today, which is estimated to inject $37 million into the WA economy.
Tourism Council WA CEO Evan Hall said the exhibition would be exclusive to Perth, and would attract an estimated 60,000 interstate and international visitors, as well as at least 120,000 Western Australian visitors.
Mr Hall said an estimated $37 million would be generated from out-of-state visitors travelling to WA for the purpose of viewing the Terracotta Warriors or extending their stay to go to the exhibition, which will be hosted at the WA Museum Boola Bardip from June 2025 to February 2026.
"The collection will include many pieces displayed outside of China for the first time, and will be unique to this exhibition," Mr Hall said.
"The $37 million spent by out-of-state visitors to the Terracotta Warriors will generate activity and jobs in our hotels, tours, attractions and local retailers," Mr Hall said.
Mr Hall said many out-of-state visitors would be travelling to WA with the primary purpose of attending this exclusive exhibition, which would also attract intrastate visitors and daytrippers.
"It is critical that we attract the sporting, cultural and entertainment events and exhibitions that Western Australians want to experience and will attract tourism dollars to the state," Mr Hall said.
"Exclusive events and exhibits such as the Terracotta Warriors are economic drivers and job creators for the state."
