The countdown to NYE Mooloolaba has started

There are just 11 days left of 2018 and the countdown to the region's biggest free end-of year event - New Year's Eve, Mooloolaba - has begun.

The Esplanade, Mooloolaba, is the place to be with a feast of free entertainment from 4pm and two spectacular fireworks shows at 8.30pm and midnight.

Mayor Mark Jamieson said New Year's Eve Mooloolaba was an event the whole family would enjoy.

"Spending New Year's Eve in Mooloolaba with family and friends is a great tradition and something thousands of locals and visitors look forward to each year," Mayor Jamieson said.

"I encourage everybody to celebrate safely, reflect on the year gone by and welcome in 2019 at one of the most picturesque beaches on our Coast."

This year there will be three key entertainment hubs, with live music and DJ's on the beach Sea Stage, as well as local musicians, food and giant slide along Beach Terrace.

The Kids Zone includes meet-and-greets with Nickelodeon's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Peter Rabbit, plus a jumping castle, face painting, kids' workshops and beach soccer.

Division 4 Councillor John Connolly said council was proud to put on this event for residents and visitors.

"As always, we have a great line-up of entertainment, from local bands and DJs to kids entertainment and activities to keep the little ones entertained," Cr Connolly said.

"Gates open at 4pm, so get your family and friends together and come down to Mooloolaba to celebrate the end of another fantastic year."

Delicious food will be available from local vendors, restaurants and cafes on The Esplanade.

Don't forget New Year's Eve Mooloolaba is a drug, alcohol and glass free event. Intoxicated people will not be permitted entry.
