Thousands of discount airfares to State's north snapped up

  • 3,000 discount airfares sold out on routes from Perth to Exmouth, Kununurra and Broome and between Broome and Kununurra
  • Partnership between the State Government, through Tourism WA, and Webjet
  • Part of the Relook and Book campaign to encourage locals to reconsider holiday plans in previously booked out locations
  • Western Australians have jumped at the chance to get behind a McGowan Government promotion to stimulate tourism in the State's north, by snapping up 3,000 discount airfares within two weeks.

The promotion offered $100 off flights from Perth to Exmouth, Kununurra and Broome, through a partnership between Tourism Western Australia and Webjet.

The discount also applied to flights between Broome and Kununurra to encourage visitors to discover more of the Kimberley region.

Launched on July 19, all available discount fares were sold out by August 3 with the promotion achieving a 10-fold increase of flight bookings across Webjet on these routes.

The Webjet partnership is part of the Relook and Book campaign, encouraging locals to reconsider holiday opportunities in popular holiday destinations such as Ningaloo, Kimberley, the South-West and Perth, which have become available following Eastern States COVID-19 lockdowns.

Travel deals are still available as part of the campaign, including $300 off selected Kimberley holiday packages available via local travel agents until September 30.

More information about the Relook and Book campaign is available on the Tourism WA corporate website.

As stated by Tourism Minister David Templeman:

"The news that all 3,000 of these discount airfares have been booked is fantastic news for our tourism operators in Exmouth, Kununurra, Broome and surrounds, bringing a boost in visitors and supporting local businesses.

"I encourage anyone with holiday plans impacted by COVID-19 lockdowns or planning a holiday to 'relook and book' and consider options that may now exist.

"From unique and diverse tours and experiences, incredible natural beauty and quality accommodation, our State has so much to offer people looking for an unforgettable holiday, with new opportunities to experience some of WA's most sought-after destinations now available."
