Remote and regional communities are invited to enter the 2026 Keep Australia Beautiful WA Tidy Towns Sustainable Communities Awards, with nominations now open.
The Tidy Towns Sustainability Awards began in Western Australia in 1968 and have evolved into a national award celebrating community led environmental action in rural and regional Australia.
The award categories reflect the diversity of regional communities, recognising a wide range of achievements and sustainability initiatives.
Keep Australia Beautiful Council Chair Elizabeth Carr AM said the awards provided an opportunity to shine a spotlight on the importance of environmental sustainability and resource management.
"Regional communities in Western Australia continue to lead the way with outstanding projects and initiatives across all categories, some of which were recognised at the recent National Tidy Towns Sustainable Communities Awards," Ms Carr said
"I encourage all regional and remote communities, large and small, to enter this year's awards to showcase their achievements, natural environment, local amenities and community spirit, which not only improve the quality of life for residents, but serve as an inspiration to other communities across Australia."
This year's awards categories include:
- Litter Action
- Waste Management
- Community Containers for Change
- Young Legends
- Environmental Sustainability
- Environmental Education
- Heritage & Culture
- Community Action & Wellbeing
- General Appearance and
- Leadership.
All winners receive monetary prizes and the overall state winner will have the opportunity to represent Western Australia at the National Tidy Towns Sustainable Awards in 2027.
Entries are open from 12 June until 21 August, while entries received by 27 July will be in the running win a bench seat with artwork by acclaimed WA artist, Helen Ansell.
Finalists will be announced in October, with winners celebrated at the WA Tidy Towns Sustainable Communities Awards event at Optus Stadium on 27 November. The Governor of Western Australia will open the event.
