Traffic Offences - Summons to Appear - Mataranka

Northern Territory police have issued summons to appear to two men in relation to traffic offences and failing to comply with Chief Health Officer Directions in Mataranka last night.

A 31-year-old male was apprehended driving a motor vehicle through a public car park at around 9pm. The driver later returned a breath analysis reading of 0.148%. There were multiple people in the motor vehicle not from the same residence and the driver was not wearing a mask.

He has been issued a summons for:

  • Drive Medium Range BrAC
  • Drive Unlicensed
  • Drive Unregistered Motor Vehicle
  • Drive Uninsured Motor Vehicle
  • Contravention of Emergency Declaration

A 37-year-old male was apprehended on Martin Road shortly after 9.30pm. The driver later returned a breath analysis reading of 0.090%. There were multiple people in the motor vehicle not from the same residence and the driver was not wearing a mask.

He has been issued a notice to appear for:

  • Drive Medium Range BrAC
  • Drive Unsafe Motor Vehicle
  • Drive Unregistered Motor Vehicle
  • Drive Uninsured Motor Vehicle
  • Fail to produce driver's licence on request
  • Contravention of Emergency Declaration

Superintendent Peter Dash said, "Northern Territory Police will continue to target drink drivers as the harm that alcohol causes is enormous and the behaviour of these people is unacceptable."
