Rector of Tomsk State University Eduard Galazhinsky is on a working visit to China. The purpose of the trip is to meet with the leadership of large companies that plan to launch new large-scale research and educational projects between Russia and China. This will expand the areas of cooperation between TSU and Chinese universities, attract more Chinese students, as well as promote new joint international events at TSU.
The working program of TSU Rector Eduard Galazhinsky includes a meeting with Feng Yaowu, President of the Eurasia International Corporation. The company was founded in Beijing in 2000. It promotes cooperation between China and other countries on a whole range of areas in the field of science and education. Among other things, it prepares students for admission to leading Russian universities and contributes to international technological science-intensive projects.
- Cooperation with China is one of the priorities of our international activities. We are already implementing many joint programs and research projects. That is why TSU joined the top 15 leading universities of the Russian Federation, which, together with Chinese universities, will train highly qualified personnel for China, says Artyom Rykun, TSU Vice-Rector for International Affairs. - At the moment, more than 700 students from China study at TSU, and we hope to increase this figure substantially.
There will be another meeting with the leadership of the "Alliance of International Educational Cooperation China - Russia", with whichTSU has already created two large educational projects. One of them is between Shandong Professional Institute and the Higher Engineering School of Agrobiotechnology "Agrobiotech"."The second project is a joint "1+3" educational program on digital media with Shandong University of Economics and Finance, which has already started in China. The meeting will focus on new areas of interaction and ideas for joint projects.
Moreover, the working program of the TSU rector includes the participation in the International Forum "Hainan 2025 - Science, Education, Innovation", in particular, in the panel session "Partnership in Energy, Space and Education: Strategy until 2035" and a speech at the round table "From ideas to leadership: University MPEI-Hainan as an international center of competence".
During his visit to China the TSU rector also had a meeting with the leadership of the University of Finance and Economics and signed the memorandum of cooperation with this institution.
For reference: Tomsk State University has 88 contracts with organizations from China. In 2007, the Confucius Institute was created on the basis of TSU together with Shenyang Polytechnic University. Now it is one of the main platforms in the Russian Federation for teaching the Chinese language and learn the culture of this country. In 2024, the director of the Confucius Institute Irina Shvedova was awarded the prize of the Chinese government. The medal is awarded for outstanding contribution to the development of the Chinese language and culture. In 2025, three new educational programs were launched at the Confucius Institute, including a program for businessmen wishing to enter the Chinese market.
