Two-day Operation Results In 23 Arrests

Murray Mallee Police conducted a two-day operation targeting crime across the Murraylands last week.

The operation ran from Thursday 26 to Friday 27 March and involved policing resources from across the state, including State Operations, Serious and Organised Crime, Financial and Cybercrime, Licensing Enforcement Branch, Security Response, Dog Operations, Mounted Operations and Traffic Services, and in conjunction with Consumer and Business Services.

Over the two days, 23 people were arrested and 10 people were reported.

Of note, a 36-year-old Tailem Bend man was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault, unlawful detention, illegal use, drive disqualified and five counts of making off without payment. He was refused police bail and appeared in court.

A 30-year-old Murray Bridge man was arrested and charged with serious criminal trespass, aggravated assault and two counts of property damage. He was remanded in custody.

A 42-year-old Murray Bridge man was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, seven counts of breach of intervention order and seven counts of breach of bail. He was remanded in custody.

An 82-year-old Murray Bridge man was reported for nine counts of insecure firearm. He will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

Police searched numerous businesses and residential properties, recovering stolen property from break-ins at Murray Bridge and Hindmarsh Island. Firearms Branch officers seized nine insecure firearms, and six other firearms were voluntarily surrendered.

Officers also seized 40 grams of cannabis, 5 grams of cannabis seeds and drug paraphernalia. Three cannabis expiation notices and one drug diversion notice were issued.

Traffic officers issued 39 expiation notices, 19 defect notices and three instant losses of licence. Three drink drivers and four drug drivers were detected.

Murray Mallee Police will continue to take action against those who choose to commit crime or make poor choices when getting behind the wheel of a car.
