Two deceased after North Geelong yacht fire

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal fire on a yacht in North Geelong this evening.

Emergency services were called to a jetty near Mackey Street after reports of a fire about 6.30pm.

Fire authorities extinguished the blaze and located two people, who are yet to formally identified, deceased at the scene.

The exact circumstances surrounding the fire is yet to be determined and a crime scene has been established.

Arson Squad detectives are investigating with the assistance of the Water Police and Search and Rescue officers, who are working to ensure the safety of the vessel during the investigation.
