Two in custody after assault - Lidcombe

Two people have been arrested after a man was allegedly assaulted at Lidcombe overnight.

Officers attached to Auburn Police Area Command were called to Railway Street shortly after 11pm (Saturday 2 January 2021), responding to reports a man was lying on the footpath and two others were kicking and stomping on his head.

When police arrived, all had left the scene; however, inquiries led them to a home nearby where a 22-year-old man was found suffering head injuries. He was taken to Westmead Hospital for treatment; he's reported to be in a stable condition.

Two men were arrested at a house next door and were taken to Auburn Police Station.

As inquiries continue, police are appealing for anyone with information to contact Auburn Police or Crime Stoppers.
