Two pedestrians seriously injured in crash - Hume

Two pedestrians have been seriously injured after being hit by a van in the state's Southern Highlands yesterday.

About 9.30pm (Thursday 21 April 2022), a man and woman – both aged 49 – were walking south along Ellsmore Road, Exeter, when a van lost control and veered off the road, hitting a telegraph pole before hitting the pedestrians.

The female passenger was trapped under the van; she suffered serious leg injuries and was taken to Liverpool Hospital in a stable condition.

The male pedestrian sustained a laceration to his head. The front seat passenger, a man aged 29, was trapped from the impact. Both were taken to the same hospital for treatment.

The 33-year-old driver was not injured; he was taken to Liverpool Hospital for mandatory testing.

The Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit established a crime scene and have commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
