UAB Leads Horizon Europe Funding 2021-2024

The UAB is the generalist university in Spain that has received the most Horizon Europe 2021-2027 funding in the first four years of the programme's running, and is among the top five entities in the country with the most funding secured, according to the latest report published by the Centre for Technological Development and Innovation (CDTI).

In the 2021-2024 period, the UAB has received funding for a total of 136 activities (52 of which as the coordinating institution). Furthermore, it has ranked among the entities with the highest amount of funding secured in the Pillar I "Excellent Science", and in the Culture, Creativity and Inclusive Society cluster of Pillar II "Global Challenges and European Industrial Competitiveness". According to the European Commission's Indicator Dashboard, the UAB has obtained a total of 86.74 million euros. The funding for Pillar I was 60.1 million euros, while in the Culture, Creativity and Inclusive Society cluster it reached 4.64 million euros.

Universities rank second in the funding obtained by entity type, just behind companies. With a total of 2,032 activities and 1,013.1 million euros in grants, universities account for 22.5% of the funds secured by Spain.

In total, Spanish entities have secured grants totalling 4,507.6 million euros to carry out 4,813 research and innovation activities, placing Spain third in the ranking of countries that have received the most funding.
