The Research Group on Child and Adolescent Victimization ( GReVIA ), led by Noemí Pereda, professor at the Faculty of Psychology of the University of Barcelona, has collaborated with the Barcelona Education Consortium in the prevention and detection of sexual violence against children in the educational environment. On 10, 11 and 12 November, researchers from this group gave training sessions to provide professionals in the sector with resources and specialized knowledge to enable them to act safely and confidently in such situations.
GReVIA has also collaborated in creating new informative materials - a poster and a visual infographic - which were presented during the activity and which the consortium will make available to educational centres in the city. These documents explain how to act when sexual violence is suspected, how to support the victim and, above all, what not to do.
The conference, promoted by the Barcelona Education Consortium, was aimed at school administrators, coordinators of co-education, coexistence and student welfare (COCOBE) and psycho-pedagogical advisory teams (EAP) from schools across the city.
