UK Probes Chinese Titanium Dioxide Imports

The TRA has opened a new investigation into imports of titanium dioxide from China. Businesses affected by this investigation can register by 17 March 2026.

The Trade Remedies Authority has today (3 March 2026) initiated an anti-dumping investigation into imports of rutile titanium dioxide from China. This investigation is in response to an application, which has alleged that imports of rutile titanium dioxide from China are being dumped into the UK and that these imports are causing injury to domestic industry .

Rutile titanium dioxide is widely used as a white pigment to provide brightness, opacity, and durability in coatings, plastics, paper and many other industrial and consumer products.

The TRA will investigate whether dumping of the imports is occurring and whether this is causing injury to UK industry. If the TRA recommends that a remedy is necessary, it will conduct an Economic Interest Test to assess whether the implementation of the remedy is in the UK's economic interest.
