The University of the Sunshine Coast has improved its position in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, moving to the top 501-600 band.
This marks UniSC's highest position in the global ranking to date.
UniSC subjects also performed well globally, with Business and Economics, Medical and Health, Education Studies, Life Sciences and Social Sciences positioned in the top 401-500 band.
Research strength, impact, international collaborations and global recognition are all key ingredients for this ranking, with a third of all results based on global perception and individual voting.
UniSC Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Helen Bartlett, said it took many years to build these ingredients before the results reflect in the rankings, so was pleased to see hard work coming to fruition.
"As the youngest university in Queensland, we've started late but we're now beginning to close the gap on much larger and older global institutions, particularly in the last three years," Professor Bartlett said.
"We are proud of this progress so far and can see that our approach to continuous improvement is showing results.
"This latest result places UniSC among the world's top universities and highlights the strength of our international collaborations, the quality and impact of our research, and our ability to support industry innovation.
"It reflects the dedication of our staff, the ambition of our students, and the strategic investments we've made in research infrastructure and global partnerships," she said.
The result comes on the back of other strong outcomes in 2025. In the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings , UniSC is listed in the global top 25 across five United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, and in the recent national Student Experience Survey , topped the public universities in Queensland, and topped Australia for postgraduate student experience.
UniSC's strongest performance was in the International Outlook pillar, which measures international co-authorship, staff and student diversity. The University also made notable gains in Research Quality, including citation impact, research excellence and influence, and in the Industry pillar, which assesses income from industry and patents.
At the metric level, UniSC excels in:
Research productivity. The number of publications in academic journals
Research excellence. The share of publications in the global top 10 percent for citation impact
Research influence. Recognition in the world's most influential research
Industry income. Ability to support industry and business innovations
Institutional income. Resources and infrastructure available to both academics and students
