Jonathan Curtright, CEO of MU Health Care, announced today that he is stepping down from his role on July 15 to take a position in Oklahoma.
“We thank Jonathan for his contributions and for his leadership of MU Health Care since 2016. In recent years, MU Health Care has made advances in technology, strengthened financial, compliance and patient ratings, and provided excellent service to our community during the pandemic, to name just a few,” said Rick Barohn, executive vice chancellor for health affairs. “We wish Jonathan well in his next endeavor.”
“I am proud of the work we’ve accomplished in the last seven years. I am and always will be a passionate supporter of MU Health Care, the University of Missouri, and this community. Together, we grew the quality and the breadth of health care in this region and across the state. I’ll always be grateful to have been a part of that work,” Curtright said.
Highlights include the development of a new children’s hospital that is now under construction, the addition of Battle and Boonville primary care clinics, a corporate partnership with Siemens Healthineers, and increased investments in medical research. He also led the partnership between Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City and MU Health Care. Curtright will be the chief operating officer at OU Health.
Barohn has appointed Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs Nim Chinniah, as interim CEO. Chinniah serves as the principal deputy for clinical operations under Barohn, who also serves as the dean of the School of Medicine. Chinniah has served on senior leadership teams at Vanderbilt, the University of Chicago and Northwestern University. In those roles, he worked closely with leaders on the operations and finances of those academic health care systems. Chinniah also has worked as a consultant for MU Health Care in recent years, and some of his projects involved assisting the health care system with strategic and financial plans.
The university will soon launch a national search for a permanent CEO. Executive search firm Spencer Stuart has been engaged.
