University of Wollongong to open permanent rainbow stairs

The University of Wollongong (UOW) will officially open a permanent rainbow-coloured staircase to celebrate diversity and inclusion at the University  on Monday 12 April in conjunction with the 2021 Chalk Rainbow movement.

The Vice-Chancellor and special guest, the Honourable Michael Kirby AC CMG, will be in attendance at the opening, along with members of our Ally Network.

The opening coincides with the annual Chalk Rainbow  event, an Australian initiated world-wide movement which began in 2013 as an expression of celebrating diversity and inclusion around the world and celebrated by UOW staff members on campus. UOW staff members will continue this tradition by chalking a rainbow before the unveiling of the staircase.

UOW says the opening of permanent rainbow-coloured staircase is a symbol of pride and shows UOW's strength in diversity.
