University Students and Staff Unite to Operate the New Adelaide Uni Bar

We are pleased to announce that the Adelaide University Union and University of Adelaide Club (Staff Club) have formed a partnership to jointly tender for the new campus bar at the University of Adelaide. Our joint tender will seek to 'save the Unibar' and maintain it as an iconic and essential destination for current and future students, staff, alumni and the general public.
Our proposal will focus on enhancing the student experience, with bookable student spaces, and access to food, drink and entertainment all at student friendly prices. Our bar will be the cultural hub for student clubs and societies, and continue to play an integral part in the broader bar and live music scene in Adelaide.
We will shortly begin a comprehensive survey and consultation process with our students to ascertain what they want most from their new bar. Combined with broader industry research and consultation with other university venues both internationally and across Australia our tender will offer an industry leading, unique and contemporary bar space that's grounded in the student experience of the University of Adelaide.
We firmly believe that the Unibar space should stay in the hands of our most important stakeholders, the students of the University of Adelaide. It will be a not-for-profit entity, seeking to reinvest funds directly back into the University community.
We have a long and proud history with the Unibar having started, owned and managed it from the early 1980's through to 2007. The Staff Club has managed the venue for the majority of years since then and we feel that the shared knowledge, skills and experience provided by both our organisations and the important roles we occupy in the University community provide the perfect platform to continue the proud history and legacy of such an important venue.
